    Achievements/Duties:

  • Summary

    I was employed at the Civil Aviation Authority initially as a trouble shooter, to help iron out some problems prior to their Production system going "LIVE". Since then I have deployed Windows 95, Office 95 & MS Exchange onto their desktops. Implemented an Internet Web site and upgrade their Windows NT network. Involved in a number of beta evaluation programs for Microsoft.

  • Designed and installed the Clyde Power Project Unix network for the landslide Monitoring system.
  • Involved in the installation of the Black White & Grey taxi computer system.
  • Designed and installed a Sparc based accounting network system for the Victoria University for Wellington.
  • Summary

    I was called into the Clyde Power Project by Azimuth who were running the project at that time, because they did not have the in-house expertise to setup the Unix systems proposed for the Land slide monitoring system at Clyde. I ended up working for the Clyde Power Project for about 18 months. I designed and installed the Unix WAN, and all the peripheral equipment. I also administered the system during this time. I worked closely with the application developers Azimuth and QED. I developed all the disaster recovery routines and procedures for the computer system. All the backup scripts etc. I also developed the C programs to drive the Alarm boxes attached to the systems as well as the Auto diallers. I also developed the X-windows environment used for the Land slide monitoring system. Setup all the printers, disks, tapes, PC's, laptops, computers, fileservers, and modems at three sites.

    I was also asked to help Motorola integrate Black White & Grey's existing PC based accounting system into the new Unix (DEC) based Taxipac dispatch system. I still help in a system support roll at Black White & Grey Cabs.

    I was contracted to setup and install a Unix (SUN) based LAN for Victoria University. I integrated a variety of PC's into this LAN to use their Peterborough Personnel System. High security was the focus of this system. I am still employed here from time to time to add more PC's to the system and to help solve problems.

    Summary

    I was contracted by Sun Microsystems to help design and implement phase 2 of the IRD project. During this project I was involved with all aspects of the design and implementation of the upgrade. I was was also involved in a tech-support role. I designed and installed the Revenue Forecasting SAS system at the Bowen building.

    April, 1990 to April, 1991: MW Technologies Ltd.

  • Established a completely new company. Including premises and staff.
  • Setup a dealer network throughout N.Z. to market LaserMaster products.
  • Complete day to day office management, including accounts payable, debt collection etc...

  • Established a completely new company.
  • Manufactured complete range of PC equipment.
  • Marketed complete range of PC and Network equipment.
  • Marketed and maintained range of Mini/Mainframe peripherals including big-disk products, tape products and optical storage products.
